with beer tasting
in Augsburg

What we do
We start at the Water Towers, the Unesco World Heritage Site at the Red Gate.
In front of the Irish Pub Murdock’s
The Unesco World Heritage water management system is only a side issue – our topic is Augsburg’s beer and drinking culture – but we follow the canals of the old town on our tour and water is not entirely unimportant for our topic.

-
What kind of beers are there?
We don't want to spoil the surprise, so we'll just say this much: there are "classic" beers, but it's also about trying something new. So we are not tasting five different lagers.
-
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Apart from the stairs leading up to the locations and the ubiquitous cobblestones in Augsburg, there are no obstacles on the tour. However, the stairs can be climbed quite easily with the help of friends
-
How many people can take part?
The upper limit for public tours is 15 people, otherwise the tour loses its charm. A larger number of participants is possible for private tours, as we can adapt the tour accordingly or split up the group and run it at different times.
-
Can I spontaneously bring someone else with me?
As we are registered at the respective locations and they have set a fixed number of participants, it is better if you let us know as soon as possible if the regular booking is no longer possible. As a rule, one or two additional guests are no problem. The invoice will be issued after the tour. However, it is at the discretion of the guide whether unregistered guests can still join the tour.
-
I would like to do an individual tour, but with wine or another drink.
In this case, please send us an e-mail or fill out our contact form. We will then try to organize something suitable for you.
-
I have received a voucher but do not want to take part in the tour. Can I return it?
Unfortunately, we cannot refund vouchers once they have been purchased. However, you are welcome to give your voucher as a gift or find a replacement who will take part in the tour instead of you.
-
Do I have to drink beer on the tour or are there other drinks available?
No, if you don't want to or can't drink alcohol, just let us know at the beginning of the tour, then you can have non-alcoholic beer or other non-alcoholic drinks.
If you simply don't like beer, you can also choose a small wine spritzer or a comparable drink. Here too, simply let us know at the start of the tour.
-
What if I can’t take part in my booked tour after all?
You can cancel free of charge up to 7 days before the booked tour. The concept of our tours requires some organization in advance, which is why cancellations at short notice are not possible. However, you can have another guest join the tour at any time as a replacement.
You can cancel up to 72 hours before the tour at 50% of the agreed tour price. If you cancel the tour less than 72 hours before the tour, the full tour price must be paid.
-
Can guided tours also be customized?
If you would like a customized tour, please make an individual request. The public tours follow a fixed schedule and therefore cannot be individually adapted to each guest.
-
Do booked guided tours also take place in bad weather?
Booked tours take place in all weathers.
-
How does the tour work?
We always meet for the public tour at the square in front of the Red Gate. From there, we mainly walk through the Lechviertel and taste five different beers in four different locations. When the weather is nice, we often sit at tables outside and when the weather is bad, tables are kept free for us in the bars. There is nothing to eat on the tour. However, you can remain seated at our table in the last location and order something to eat there.
-
How can I pay?
The public guided tours can be paid directly when booking via Paypal or after booking by direct bank transfer. For private tours, you will receive an invoice which you can pay by bank transfer.

"Tanks for the great evening!"
"A big compliment to our tour guide Viola, with her charm she immediately captivated us and convinced us through and through, whether it was about "brewing beer" or questions about historical anecdotes or walls. Thank you for the great evening, I can only recommend it, not only for the male sex, but also for every woman, this inspiring insight into the culinary swill is worthwhile, whose joy of experimentation is far from exhausted!"

"What a great way to experience Augsburg!"
"What a great way to experience Augsburg! I went in knowing it was a German language tour and expecting to not understand much, but our wonderful host Felix made a huge effort in explaining things in both German and English so I didn't miss out at all. We got to go to several really different and lovely pubs trying delicious beers at every stop. It was a great mix of largers, IPAs, Stouts, and just something for everyone. Really good value for the money with everything included. In between bars, Felix filled us in on interesting pieces of history in this beautiful city setting. He also encouraged us to chat amongst our small group and I made some great friends. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Augsburg."

We can only recommend it and will definitely be back!
We were with our team from work with Felix without hair 😊 a mega tour that was anything but boring and typical for classic city tours. Felix gave us the perfect mix of historical background, knowledge about beer brewing and humor
We can only recommend it and will definitely be back!

Who we are
We are Felix, Felix, Vio and Dominik
We take you on a journey of discovery along the most beautiful bars, with the most bizarre city stories and the tastiest beers. But one thing at a time!
In the beginning there was Max & Max. The two came together as great beer lovers, but discovered the teaching profession for themselves at the end of their studies. That’s why they were looking for worthy successors with X in their name. That’s how Felix & Felix came about.
Originally, the two began studying studied history in Augsburg with hair on their heads, The study of one Felix was then very hair-raising and so the distinction between the two is quite simple today – Felix with and Felix without hair.
The Felixes got to know each other when they started working together as city guides at the Maxen and have now conducted over 900 city tours in Augsburg together. However, it is not only history and architecture that inspire them, but also the art of brewing, beer culture and the constant discovery and tasting of new beer specialties. They called it Tavern Tours and they saw that it was good.
However, interest in supervised beer consumption soon grew to such an extent that they sought reinforcements. Viola and Dominik, who live in strict accordance with the German Purity Law and know Augsburg’s history as well as the hops know their cones, joined the team.
Vio (short for Viola) is studying art education at the University of Augsburg and, as the art of brewing is not talked about for nothing, she was also enthusiastic about the liquid art of brewing.
Dominik (not short for Dominikus, but simply Dominik) did his master’s degree in history in Augsburg, was unfaithful to the city where he grew up for a while, but returned and now brings you drunken follies of Augsburg’s past.
PS: Obviously we’re trying to get two of each kind on board, so if you know a Viola or a Dominik with art/history training and an increased interest in beer and brewing processes, we’d be very grateful for the contact!
